FAQs
Your Ayurvedic FAQs, Clearly Answered
Curious about consultations, Panchakarma, seasonal cleanses, or our handmade face creams? Browse clear, practical answers from Embrace Ayurveda, serving Bainbridge Island and the Pacific Northwest.
What is Ayurveda, and what does it focus on?
Ayurveda is a holistic healing system from India that looks at patterns in digestion, energy, sleep, mood, and daily rhythm. It works with your mind-body constitution (Vata, Pitta, Kapha) and aims to support balance through personalized diet, lifestyle, and therapeutic care. At Embrace Ayurveda, we use traditional Ayurvedic principles alongside practical planning, so recommendations feel workable in modern life across the Pacific Northwest and beyond.
What happens in an initial Ayurvedic Consultation at Embrace Ayurveda?
Your first consultation (90 minutes) includes an in-depth intake, pulse and tongue assessment, and a review of your goals. We look at the constitution and current imbalances, including signs of ama (toxins) and agni (digestive fire) patterns, then outline a plan you can realistically implement. You may receive dietary guidance, lifestyle suggestions, and herbal recommendations based on what fits best. Consultations are available in-person (Bainbridge Island, Seattle, Cannon Beach) or via secure telehealth for clients worldwide.
What is Panchakarma, and what is the Embrace Ayurveda retreat experience like?
Panchakarma is a multi-day Ayurvedic reset designed for deep cleansing and rejuvenation through a structured sequence of therapies and supportive care. At Embrace Ayurveda, the process typically includes a pre-retreat consultation, personalized bodywork and herbal support during the retreat, and a post-retreat plan to help you integrate changes at home. Retreats take place at Sarah's center on Bainbridge Island, and Shady Grove Retreat Center in Onalaska, WA. The retreat length and pacing is tailored to the individual rather than treated as a one-size program. You will complete your Panchakarma feeling more calm and connected to yourself.
What do I need to complete before booking a consultation or a Panchakarma retreat?
New clients complete the mandatory Ayurvedic Intake Form before the first appointment, which helps us understand health history, current concerns, and goals. For Panchakarma, a preparatory consultation is required in advance to plan your protocol appropriately. We also recommend reviewing the 24-hour cancellation policy to avoid full-value charges for rescheduled or missed appointments.
Are your Ayurvedic Face Creams and retail products a good fit for sensitive skin?
Our artisanal Ayurvedic Face Creams (Rose and Orange Blossom) are handmade in small batches using natural, food-grade ingredients and are free from synthetic chemicals, parabens, and artificial fragrances. Many clients with sensitive or reactive skin share positive experiences (see our testimonials). If you have known sensitivities, we recommend reviewing ingredient details and reaching out with questions so we can help you choose the best option.
Can I work with Embrace Ayurveda if I don’t live on Bainbridge Island?
Yes. While some offerings are best experienced in person (like bodywork and retreats), our secure telehealth and virtual care programs—including the Ignite Your Life Reset—are available to clients globally. For in-person care, we serve the Pacific Northwest with locations across Seattle, Onalaska, and Cannon Beach, as well as the Washington and Oregon regions. Location details and directions are provided with booking information when relevant.
How do I choose between a consultation, a seasonal cleanse, or a retreat?
A good starting point depends on your timeline, support needs, and how intensive you want the experience to be. Consultations work well when you want a personalized plan and ongoing guidance. Seasonal cleanses can help you reset routines and align with the time of year in the Pacific Northwest. Retreats are typically chosen when you want a deeper, structured immersion. If you’re unsure, an initial consultation is a simple way to get a recommendation based on your current patterns and goals.
